President Donald Trump said on Sunday that the United States may buy Argentine beef to lower prices for American consumers.
“We’re going to buy some beef from Argentina,” said Air Force One Air Force One during a flight from Florida to Washington.
Trump promised earlier this week to address it as part of his efforts to control inflation.
U.S. beef prices are stubbornly high because of pests eating away at the meat in cattle herds there, drought and reduced imports from Mexico.
Trump is working to help bolster the currency with additional funding ahead of Argentina’s $20 billion credit swap line and additions from sovereign funds and a close ally of the private sector, President Javier Miley.
